Chinese smartphone maker Phicomm to enter India with Passion 660

In recent past, many Chinese smartphone brands included Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, Gionee, Meizu, Obi have successfully entered in India’s smartphone market. Now, another Chinese brand called Phicomm is gearing up to enter in the Indian smartphone market.

The Phicomm will unveil its Passion 660 smartphone in India on June 3rd. The Passion (P660) sports a 5-inch IPS 1020p LCD display along with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. The device runs on a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB ROM. It supports 4G networks and is powered by a 2,300 mAh battery and runs on Android KitKat OS.

In an interview with AN Indian publication, Phicomm’s president of global sales Jeffrey Fan stated that India will be the third market, where they intend to establish local presence. Phicomm initially plans to hire 20 people for the local office, but within a year, they will set-up an R&D centre in the country, followed by a manufacturing facility in three-four years’ time.

The company also have plans to manufacture mobile phones in India in three to four years’ time. It will also set up a local ecosystem, including a research and development unit and a local data centre. The Indian R&D centre is expected to be set up within this year.
