Comparsion : Zenfone 2 vs Zenfone 5 vs Zenfone 6 – Specifications & Features

Asus launched the ZenFone 2 at CES 2015 alongside the ZenFone Zoom – a smartphone with 3x optical zoom. At last year’s CES, Asus had launched the ZenFone 6 and ZenFone 5 smartphones, and it has worked for Asus as it has roped in the much-needed brand refresh for the lineup of devices. Over the World, currently there are 15 Million Zenfone users as claimed by Asus.

Let us now compare  Zenfone 2, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6  smartphones in terms of their hardware, as well as software performance:


The ZenFone 2 has a Full HD IPS display at 1920 x 1080 pixels, having 403 PPI pixel density. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The ZenFone 6 comes with a 6 inches screen, and Zenfone 5 flaunts a 5 inch IPS screen, at  720p resolution.


Zenfone 2 is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor running at 2.3GHz. The smartphone will be available in two RAM variants – one with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and another with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Both the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 devices are powered by Intel Atom Z2520 processor running at 2 GHz coupled with 1 GB of RAM.


Zenfone 2 will be available in three inbuilt storage models – 16GB/32GB/64GB. All versions will support expandable storage via microSD card (up to 64GB). The Zenfone 6 is available in three inbuilt storage models – 8GB/16GB/32GB and have expandable storage via microSD card up to 64GB, whereas Zenfone 5 is available in 8GB/16GB variant only.


Zenfone 2 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0-aperture, autofocus lens with dual-color Real Tone flash. There is a 5-megapixel front camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens.
Zenfone 6 has a 13 MP  rear camera whereas Zenfone 5 have an 8 MP rear camera with f/2.0 lens and PixelMaster low light shooting. Both Zenfone 6 and 5 have 2 MP front facing camera.

Connectivity Options

The Asus ZenFone 2 supports dual Micro-SIMs (GSM+GSM) and comes with 4G LTE (Cat. 4) connectivity support apart from 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, Glonass, Wi-Fi, USB OTG, and NFC.
Both Zenfone 5 and 6 don’t support LTE and NFC, except that all others connectivity options are present.


Zenfone 2 is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Asus’ revamped ZenUI whereas Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 recently got Android 4.4.2 lollipop update.


Zenfone 2 handset features a 3000mAh battery which is a significant boost on the 2110mAh battery in last year’s ZenFone 5. Zenfone 6 features a 3300mah battery.

The new Asus ZenFone 2 will be available in Q2 2015 (March) in several colour variants – Ceramic White, Glacier Gray, Glamour Red, Osmium Black, and Sheer Gold. It will be available at a starting price of $199 (Rs. 12,600 approximately).
