Procedure to DeBloat SONY Xperia S:
- Ensuring that you have installed the PC Companion in your computer will make sure that all the required drivers are installed and then you need to check that all the USB as well as ADB drivers are installed. Once you connect your Xperia S to the computer, it will be shown on screen as shown below.
- Now, you will have to identify the customized firmware in your handset which is nothing but the region / identity of the device. Its always safe to note the existing firmware customization number is, so that you can make sure it has changed once you complete the tutorial. You can get the same by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* and then select Access Service Menu > Software info > Customization Version.
- Up next you need to enable the USB Debugging in your phone. You can enable the same from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked as shown in the pre requisites section.
- Up next, download the Flashtool from here to your computer along with the Xperia S Generic firmware from here to your computer. Unzip the flash tool to install the same in your computer. Also, you need to unzip the firmware tool so as to get the .ftf format file.
- Place the extracted .ftf file in the path “C:/Drive > flashtool > firmwares>” and ensure that no other files are there in the above mentioned path. Open the Flash tool in your computer.
- In the flash tool, click on the “File option” and then select “flash mode” on the left side in the opened flash tool to click on Ok and enable the options which are mentioned below as you need to enable Wipe User Data and Wipe Cache.
- Select Ok and then flash tool will now be preparing the ROM and will ask you to connect the phone to the computer with the help of USB cable and then just follow the on screen instructions. As soon as its connected, the flash tool will be installing the Official Stock Gingerbread firmware in your SONY Xperia S.
- Once the firmware is upgraded successfully, the phone will restart and then you can disconnect the phone from the computer and can enjoy the Gingerbread firmware. So, there you go, you will now see that all the bloatware applications will be deleted and you can then experience an all new cleaner firmware which will in turn increase the RAM usage.
Note: Just in case of the data gets lost or corrupted, you need to check and restore the same. We recommend you to restore the Mobile APN Settings so as to get the internet access in your phone.
