Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 phones can now be updated with the latest firmware of ICS Android 4.0.4 which is dubbed as XXAMC1. This firmware comes with minor bug fixes and also addresses the issues pertaining to app crashes in some games. Also, issues related to Wi Fi and Network are fixed where in some users had issues related to fluctuating network which are having sim cards operating in 1800 MHz band. So, before we proceed and check on to what are the instructions to update the firmware, you need to make sure that you have followed the quick pre requisites. Unfortunately, there is still no clarity on by when there will be an update of Jellybean 4.1 for Galaxy S Duos S7562
Note: Applying this update neither void the warranty nor will root the device in any manner. Also, if your device is pre rooted, the root access will be removed once you apply with this update.
Quick Pre Requisites:
- All the data in your Galaxy S DUOS S7562 smartphone should be backed up with the help of below mentioned steps manually. Don’t use KIES or any other tools to back up the data because you may not be able to restore the data correctly.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log –Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Enable the USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” and also you will have to ensure that the minimum battery life should be 30% so as to ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of update.
- Disable / uninstall all the security suites installed in your phone as these tools may interrupt the process of firmware update.
(Optional, but Recommended)
- Now, turn Off your device so that it can be entered in the Recovery Mode. Recovery Mode in Galaxy S DUOS can be entered by pressing the Volume Up + Menu Button and then holding these both buttons, you will need to turn ON the device so that it can be entered in the Recovery Mode.
- In recovery mode, you need to select the option of “Wipe Data / Factory Reset” option to make sure that the data gets wiped off from your phone.

Procedure to Update Galaxy S Duos S7562 with ICS 4.0.4 Firmware Version:
- Download the Galaxy S Duos S7562 ICS 4.0.4 Firmware Package from here to your computer along with the Odin. Once downloaded, extract the same and open Odin in your computer.
- Turn Off your Galaxy S Duos so that it can be entered in the Download Mode. Download Mode in Galaxy S Duos can be entered by pressing the Volume Up rocker key + Menu Button and holding these both, press the power button at the same time while the device is turned Off.
- Once the device is entered in the Download MODE, connect your phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable and then you will see that the ID : COM section will turn Yellow indicating that all the drivers have been installed successfully.
- Click on “PDA” to select the tar file which you can get from the firmware zip and click on the tar file to select the same. Please note that it will take around 3 -5 minutes for applying the update. Once you see the home screen, disconnect the device from computer.
- To check the firmware version, head over to the path “Settings > About Phone” where the firmware version will be mentioned as ICS 4.0.4 Firmware version.
Note: Just in a rare case if the device is not updated and it gets into the boot loop mode, you need to again clear the cache from the recovery mode and retry the whole process from the start.
