Gionee Elife E7 vs E6 Android Phone Comparison – A Worthy Successor from Gionee?

The Gionee Elife E7 is the latest flagship launched by Gionee in the Indian market, and that for us is a very worthy upgrade from the Elife E6 which was the recent best one from them, and there are some good reasons for us to support the statement. Having a bigger display and some brilliant specs, the Gionee Elife E7 can easily sit strong against the Galaxy Note 3, LG G2 and the Sony Xperia Z1, but check below on what Gionee upgraded in the E6 to launch this new one.

Gionee Elife E7 vs Elife E6 Comparison

Gionee Elife E7 vs E6

Screen, Display and Design

Design wise, Gionee made a lot of changes and the E7 doesn’t really like something related to the E6, and it looks like one of those several Android smartphones with the standard curvy edges and the top center camera placement. The Elife E6 had a better design, which we called as iPhone-inspired, and that was because of the sharp edges, the camera being located in a unique place and the matte body. The E7 comes with a glossy body, which doesn’t look really pleasant and that would retain the fingerprints.

The display in the Gionee Elife E6 is a 5-inch one, while that in the E7 is a 5.5-inch one, though both of them are Full HD displays, and both the smartphones come with the OGS solution as well as the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to the touchscreen.

Processor, RAM and Storage

The cores are the same, but the makers of the processors differ, and they differ by a lot. While the E7 has got the excellent Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor from Qualcomm, the E6 comes with a Mediatek MT6589 quad-core processor from Mediatek, and the clocking speeds of both are 2.2 GHz and 1.5 GHz respectively.

Performance wise, there was no small difference, because the AnTuTu benchmark score in the Elife E7 is around 35000, while that in the Elife E6 is around 16000, so you can check the difference there itself.

Again, the company has two models of the E7 based on the connectivity too, because the 3G connectivity one would have the 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, while the 4G connectivity one would be having a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm 8974AC.

Gionee has chosen to give two options of storage for the users to choose from – 16GB and 32GB for the E7, and the RAM would be dependent on the storage. The 16GB model will have 2GB RAM, while the 32GB one will have a 3GB RAM. The storage in the Elife E6 is 32GB, and both the devices don’t support the MicroSD card for the expandable storage.

OS, Interface and Battery

The Android OS version in the Elife E7 is Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, while it is the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean in the E6, which doesn’t matter much because Gionee has it’s own Amigo interface, which got an upgrade in the E7, with the Amigo 2.0 having a lot of changes, improvements and addition of features. Some of the clear differences are:

  • Guest Mode in Notification Panel
  • New Notification Panel with tabs, no top right quick settings icon
  • Suspend Button
  • Fake Call feature
  • Drag down from anywhere on the home screen to lock it
  • Phone accelerate, Battery monitor apps for phone optimization

Although we might not complain or talk about the battery here, for the comparison, there is an upgrade with the E7 having a 2500 mAh battery compared to the 2000 mAh battery in the E6.

Gionee is claiming to have the best Android smartphone camera in the Elife E7, with the 16-megapixel shooter coming with a very beautiful camera app interface for changing the settings, modes and a lot more, and to support that, there is also an 8-megapixel front camera which does a very decent job in capturing the self shots.

In comparison to this, the Gionee Elife E6 has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front one.

Both the smartphones have a Single SIM option, but there is an optional model with 4G connectivity in the E7, which is powered by a special processor, while there is no 4G LTE connectivity in the E6. The other connectivity options are almost the same in both the smartphone, with the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and there’s NFC in the Elife E7.

Overall Comparison

Taking the pricing into consideration (Elife E7 priced at Rs. 29,999 for 32GB, Elife E6 priced at Rs. 21,000), the Elife E7 can easily be called a better smartphone because of the chipset from Qualcomm, and the brilliant cameras on both the sides.
