Earlier, Gionee sent out media invites for an October 8 event. The invite reads, ‘Block your date for some GR8 news. A new phone launch and a big entry into e-commerce.’ Today, the Chinese based Smartphone maker Gionee has officially launched its much hyped Elife E8 flagship smartphone in India that was announced in China four months ago. The new flagship smartphone comes with a massive 6-inch 2K screen and also comes with one of the highest resolution cameras on an Android phone. The device will be available exclusively via Snapdeal from October 12 and is priced at Rs. 34,999.
The Elife E8 features a 6-inch (1440 x 2560 pixels) display with 490ppi as pixel density and TBC protection. It comes powered with Mediatek Helio X10 chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at up 2GHz, and a PowerVR 6200 GPU coupled with 3GB of RAM.The smartphone has internal memory of 64GB with microSD card support for expansion upto 128GB. The connectivity options on the dual sim capable device includes 4G-LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS, NFC and a microUSB port.
On the camera front, it features the 24MP rear camera takes 4K video, and there is an 8MP camera on the front. The lens comes with OIS, a 6P lens, a sapphire glass lens cover and a true tone flash. The camera apps takes just 0.8s to launch and there’s phase detection autofocus which Gionee claims focuses in 0.08s to 0.2s. There’s optical image stabilization which is able to correct for shakes up to 1.5-degrees in angle. The smartphone also offers lossless zoom, and 4K video recording. The company claims that the Elife E8 is the world’s first smartphone to sport a 24MP camera, and with software optimizations it can capture images with 120 MP resolution.
Elife E8 comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back of the unit and fingerprint recognition rate on the device is over 99%, and it takes less than 0.5 seconds for identification of the thumb impression on your device. The device comes backed by a 3520mAh battery with quick charge support that delivers upto 14 hours of talk time and upto 350 hours of standby time. The smartphone is 9.6mm thick and weighs around 207 grams. It runs on Amigo 3.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The smartphone supports 9 Indian languages and also includes features like Ami Locker, Mood Card, Ami Weather, Theme Park, AmiClone, and Mobile Security.
