Earlier: Gionee to Launch Elife S7, the Slim Smartphone at MWC 2015
Gionee will unveil their latest smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2015. The company has officially confirmed that the device named Elife S7 will be launched at MWC and the product launch will be held at Theatre D of Hall 8 on March 2, 2015.
Gionee’s thinnest smartphone is the Elife S5.1 measuring just 5.2mm thick, but it was dethroned by the Oppo R5 at 4.9mm. Subsequently, Vivo came out with the 4.8mm X5 Max. Currently, the Coolpad Ivvi K1 Mini with its 4.7mm thikness, is the world’s slimmest smartphone.
Going by how Gionee has earlier named its smartphones, we can expect Elife S7 to be a device with 7mm thickness. We are also expecting the smartphone to carry a MediaTek chipset and either a 720p or 1080p display.
Oliver Sha, head of global marketing of Gionee recently told that the race to make the slimmest smartphone was getting out of hand. Going so slim is not benefiting user experience without the performance to back it up.
