Last month, Gionee launched the mid-ranged heavy battery smartphone in India called as Gionee Marathon M5 priced at Rs. 17,999. Now, the company is all set to unveil the successor of the Marathon M5 called as Gionee Marathon M5 Plus in China at an event confirmed for December 21. There were many rumors about the Marathon M5 Plus recently, but as the device now gets the TENAA certification we have more information about the upcoming smartphone.
As per the listing, the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus features a phablet-sized 6-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full-HD AMOLED display and will come powered by unspecified 64-bit MediaTek octa-core SoC clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM. The device will have 32GB of internal storage and also includes a microSD card slot for expansion upto 128GB.
On the camera front, the device sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera for video chats and selfie clicks. Connectivity options on the dual sim capable device include 4G-LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB port. The device will feature almost similar design like its predecessor but additionally it will house a physical home button on the front that is expected to integrate a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security of the device.
The handset is expected to come backed a smaller 5020 mAh battery capacity when compared to the 6020mAh battery seen on the Marathon M5 smartphone. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based Amigo OS 3.0 out of the box. The dimensions of the smartphone measure 160.7 x 81.0 x 8.2 mm and is quite bulky weighing around 206 grams.
