Have you just bought the latest tablet Adam’s Notion Ink then we will guide you on how you can flash your device so that you can update your Notion Ink with the latest firmware update which was launched recently. Please note that it’s necessary to back up your data and also make sure that you have fully charged your Notion Ink as Firmware requires the battery charge to be maximum. Basically, this update is for those whose Notion Ink has stopped booting after installing the OTA (over the air) update. Make sure that you don’t use the method indicated to flash your Adam with any kind of additive ROM not from Notion Ink, as it would probably damage your Adam and can potentially brick your device.
Please ensure that before proceeding to flash your device, first go through the procedures mentioned below and then proceed for a step by step flashing method which is mentioned below:
Here is a list of pre requisites which you must possess in order to proceed for the updation of your Notion Ink tablet:
- A Windows based or the Linux PC
- Notion Ink Adam Tablet which you wish to flash
- A mini-USB to USB cable for connecting the computer with your Notion Ink
- Also, the appropriate Adam Recovery Kit which you can download from the URLs mentioned below. (About 80MB)

Either by using the software tools like WinZip or WinRAR you need to unzip or un compress the Adam recovery kit which you have downloaded from the above links to any folder in your computer.
RECOVERY MODE
Please note that before proceeding, make sure that your Adam has at least >70% battery charge. Also make sure that your computer will not turn off during the flashing process. As if the power goes off in between then again you need to re flash the software again. Now, just turn off your Adam and enter the force recovery mode by pressing and holding both the Volume Down (-) and Power buttons for two seconds. After this you can see that orange (charge) and red (CPU) indicators on the right side of your device will light up, indicating that your Adam is in force recovery mode. After this you need to release both the buttons, and then you need to connect the mini-USB port on your Adam to any free USB port on the PC using the USB data cable.
Driver Installation (Windows only)
After connecting your Adam Notion Ink to the windows based computer then you will find that a notification “APX” will be detected on your computer screen. Now, if you get a
“Found new hardware” dialog box asking where to install drivers from – choose “list or specific
location” where you have stored the downloaded file from the above link so as to update the hardware files. Just in case you don’t get this message, open the Device Manager, System which is in the Control
Panel, just find and click on “APX” device, and click the update driver button and then you need to select usbpcdriver which is located in the folder inside the extracted Adam Recovery Kit as the driver location which is extracted. In this process, you may receive a warning that the driver is not certified or signed by Windows – just ignore this and choose to install it anyway.
FLASH
So, after a huge list of process and wants its time to finally flash your device. You need to make sure that
the USB cable is connected securely. So for starting the process on your Windows system, you need to run the download.bat batch file from the folder which you have extracted the recovery kit. If you are on the Linux based computer then just open a console window at the folder and after containing the same in the folder, you need to open a console window at the folder which contains Recovery Kit, and run ./download.sh. After this you will see that screen is updated and the console window will be showing the process. If you’re using Linux, open a console window at the folder containing the extracted Recovery Kit, and run ./download.sh. Your device screen will show that it is being updated, and the console window will show the progress.
