HTC has announced an affordable model in the Desire series of Android smartphones, with the Desire 500 being introduced with some good specifications, and the pricing which looks quite competitive to many Android phones from the international brands. The HTC Desire 500 is as of now announced just in Taiwan and is expected to be making an entry into the several markets in the coming months.
Powered with the Quad-core processor clocking at 1.2 GHz, the device has got 1GB of RAM but the screen size of 4.3-inch should have come with a better resolution, because it’s time when one would not expect the 480 x 800 pixels of screen resolution. On the camera aspect, it’s the 8 megapixel camera on the rear side with a f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash, and the back panel with the camera position resembles several previous HTC Desire series phones. The front facing camera is a 1.6 megapixel lens with the BSI sensor.
There’s a Dual-SIM compatibility, and the network supports 3G (HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps), and the other standard connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Near Field Communication (NFC). The battery is pretty decent, with the 1800 mAh capacity, and the storage provided is 4GB internally, with the expansion possible through the MicroSD card, to a maximum of 64GB.
The operating system included is the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS with the interface being powered by the always interesting HTC Sense, the version 5. Read below for some press shots and the specs of the device.

As said above, the Desire 500 from HTC is still available just for the Taiwan market, and the price there is around $400 which is still nothing less but not sky-high, thus going with the screen size and specs, it’s a pretty good device with the Quad-core processor and the HTC’s sense interface. The device would go on sale in the market from August 1st.
