HTC has just announced the mid-range Android smartphone, HTC Desire 501, which comes with a 4.3-inc capacitive touchscreen and the WVGA display, and some decent specifications along with, and the phone is said to be available in the Taiwanese market initially, and there are no details about its availability in the other markets for now. It’s being priced at NT$ 9900 which equals to around Rs. 21000 in the Indian market but the launch in India is still a question.
The internal powering given in the Desire 501 is by a NovaThor U8520 processor, a dual-core chipset clocking at 1.15 GHz. There’s a 1GB RAM that supports the multitasking, and the device runs the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS with the HTC Sense UI. Camera wise, the HTC Desire 501 is pretty neat, having a 8-megapixel camera on the rear side with the BSI sensor and the LED flash, and it’s the F/2.0 aperture and the camera has the autofocus function. The front camera is a 2.1-megapixel 88-degree ultra-wide-angle lens which would be very good for the video calling. The connectivity options included are 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC.
The Desire 500 was launched with the Dual SIM feature but that is missing in the Desire 501, although the company has included the NFC connectivity in this. The internal storage provided in the HTC Desire 501 is 8GB, with an expandable storage to 32GB with the MicroSD card support. The battery comes with a 2100 mAh capacity. The phone is going to be available in different colors including Black, Pink and White. In Taiwan, the Desire 501 is going to be available through Chunghwa Telecom exclusively, and we will get a word about the global availability soon.
