HTC Desire S – Steps to Install Beta ICS Android 4.0 Firmware

Procedure to Upgrade HTC Desire S with Android 4.0 Firmware:

  • Before proceeding, you first need to ensure that you have installed the Custom Recovery Image and Turned Off the S in your HTC Desire S phone from the given link. After this you need to Download the ICS Android 4.0 Package for HTC Desire S along with the Google Apps in your computer, connect your phone to the computer using the Official USB cable and copy the two downloaded Zip files to your phone without renaming or modifying the file.
  • Enable the USB debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”. After enabling the USB debugging, you will now need to proceed to download the HTC Sync drivers in your phone and then you need to install on the Windows computer, please note that the Linux based or the Mac based computers are not yet supported. Disable the fast boot from the path of “Settings > Power > Fast boot”.   • After this you will have to turn off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume down button and then Power ON the device and then select the option of “Recovery”.

  • Now, in the recovery mode you will have to select the option of “Clear Storage” and then select “install Zip from sd card” to choose the file of Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 which you have placed in your phone followed by the Google Apps Package. It will take around 5 – 10 minutes for applying this firmware and as soon as the firmware is updated successfully, the phone will get restarted.
