HTC Opera UL – Official Facebook Android Phone Rumored – Specifications

The HTC Chacha or Salsa was earlier released into the market, but there was impact as much made by the device in the social media as well as in the real market, except than having a small tag of dedicated Facebook key on the phone. But the manufacturer hasn’t stopped working on something special based on Facebook, and now there are rumors that HTC is going to give a codename of HTC Opera UL to the device that is supposedly the OEM product for the Social networking giant Facebook.

Pocket-Lint revealed that the Opera UL would be exclusively made by HTC and would have the Facebook branding, just like the Nexus devices are done by Google. Two things have been confirmed with this, that HTC is in the process of making the new HTC Opera UL, and as its an OEM product, the Facebook team too would be coming for the first time in the smartphone hardware market.

The recent benchmark tests even showed that there would be a Qualcomm Adreno 305 GPU, and the display would be a 720p HD one with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and at the moment the OS it would be coming, is the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It should come with a dual-core processor with a speed of 1.4GHz processor.

The actual launch of the HTC Opera UL was going to be somewhere in late 2012, but some reasons had kept delaying it and now its expected to launch in 2013, with a tweaked version of Android which would be modified by Facebook. Most of the specs that were revealed, was due to the NenaMark 2 benchmark test. We won’t expect much changes in the design from the HTC Chacha, and there should be a dedicated Facebook key for the shortcut to the social networking.

We aren’t sure whether this phone would get much noticed again, because no one would want to shell out hundreds of dollars just for a device which provides social networking shortcuts, when Android itself has a beautiful app for Facebook. And to make it more a risk, the other platforms of Android already have shortcuts and customizations to make the social networking easier. What do you think? let us know in the comments.
