  • 4.7 inch S-LCD Display
  • 1.5Ghz Single Core Processor, 768MB of RAM
  • 8MP Camera, 720p HD Recording

The Sensation is currently, the most powerful Android smartphone in India, with a 1.5Ghz dual core processor and a large screen, as large as 4.7 inches. With 4.7-inch S-LCD screen, having a resolution of 480 X 800 pixels, it runs Android 2.3.4. Looking at its camera, there’s a powerful 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and auto-focus, along with a secondary camera which is quite a useful addition considering apps like Google Talk and Skype support video calls on Android.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will be coming soon to the HTC Sensation XL and it comes with Gingerbread out of the box as of now.

The Sensation XL shoots videos at  HD, 1080p and comes with a 1730mAh battery on it. According to the official claims by HTC, it provides a talk time of 12 hours on 2G and around 7 hours on 3G with a standby time of 360 hours on 2G and 460 hours on 3G. It has a 1600mAh battery.

The HTC Sensation XL has been launched in India at a price of Rs.39,990. Recently launched Android phones in India include the HTC Sensation XE and the Motorola Droid RAZR which are well under the Rs.35,000 pricing mark but the Sensation XL, seems to be the costliest. It comes with a giant 4.7 inch screen and excellent processors under the hood, and is priced considerably high.

Also note that the Motorola Droid RAZR is priced at Rs 33,990 while the Samsung Galaxy SII is at around Rs. 29,900 and the HTC Evo 3D at Rs. 34,125.

Beats by Dr. Dre

The HTC Sensation XL comes with audio from Beats by Dr. Dre, one of the most premium companies specializing in Audio technology in the world. The HTC Sensation XLcomes with Beats Audio™ inbox with custom made Beats headsets, engineered to deliver extraordinary sound. Their software is also specially tuned software and the user interface is tweaked to deliver the best mobile audio experience. Also, HTC has got Beats to make a custom earphone for the Sensation XL, which comes in the box as well. The headset has music control buttons on it as well.

In our opinion, it is quite a costly mobile phone, spite it having a 1.5Ghz processor, considering that 3D phones like the HTC Evo 3D are available at a cheaper price. Still, overall it is a good device and performs well.
Update – This mobile phone is now available at Rs 38700 (December 15, 2011).
