For HTC Vivid, the Ice Cream Sandwich was long back planned but it real now those AT & T users of United States finally can upgrade their smartphone manufactured by HTC with much liked Ice Cream Sandwich. Two weeks back we have provided the custom ROM of HTC Vivid which was good but unofficial, here comes the official maintenance release. With this update you get Android 4.0.3 ICS on your HTC Vivid PH39100 and also this update brings the upgrade to HTC Sense to 3.6 version. This update also comes with other additions such as Beats Audio and many other features and improvements.
These officially release updates are valid only on the HTC VIVID users of AT & T carrier and this update is been pushed via over the air upgrade. Since this will use the data connection on your phone, we recommend you to upgrade with this process when you are connected on Wi Fi as the download speed will be faster and data download via 3G and 4G might can charge you heavy data usage bills. Also we recommend users to proceed with this update if they have more than 60 % of battery power left on their phone. Also we suggest them to back up most of the things on their smartphone.
Improvements & Enhancements
The following are the list of improvements and enhancements included in this upgrade package –
- This update brings the Beats Audio which provides the music and video experiences at its best. So whenever you play a music file or videos on any media player, Beats Audio indicator will be spotted on the notification bar. Tapping on it will enable or disable it. The settings can be accessed by going through Menu > Settings. Please note that Beats Audio will only work when there is headphones or the external speakers are connected with it. This will provide the best possible quality to the music been played.
- Face Unlock is the feature that most would have seen it with Galaxy Nexus phones and this comes pre installed on Android 4.0 but many devices don’t see this. Face Unlock now works perfectly on HTC Vivid and users of this smartphone with this upgrade can unlock the screen using the face unlock feature. This works on the state of art facial recognition technology and uses front facing camera to read your face.
- This update comes with improved email services. It’s now easier to send, read and manage your messages and comes with nested sub folders.
- This update provides perfect functionality with Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with settings too.
- There are serious user interface improvements and you can access various notifications although the screen locked.
After studying all these updates we will now proceed to see how can upgrade with the official firmware.
For most of the users, they would have received this update notification on their mobile phone and they and pull down the update message and proceed with the upgrade installation then and there itself. For the rest of the users who didn’t get notification, they are request to check by going through Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software update and finally tap on check now to being with the upgrade process.
This was officially announced by AT & T on March 22, 2012. For the users who don’t see this update on their phone some how then manually upgrade to Android 4.0.3 as well.
