Huawei Honor 7 Smartphone Set to Launch in India on October 7th

Update Oct 5, 2015: Huawei launched the Honor 7 smartphone way back in June in China for $322 (approx Rs.21,000). Now, the company is gearing upto launch the high-end Honor 7 smartphone in India on October 7. The Honor smartphones will also be available offline while Flipkart remains the exclusive online partner as earlier announced by the company.

The company in an event also announced that Honor 4X has been a huge success with more than 10 million sales globally. If the Honor 7 is priced aggressively, we expect the company to reach its goal of selling 1.5-2 million smartphones before the end of this year simply.

Earlier Jul 10, 2015: According to Huawei, its latest Android smartphone, the Honor 7 has achieved astonishing 9 million pre-orders only a week after launch. Huawei uses the flash sale method to sell their devices. Huawei also mentioned that Honor 7 will be launched in Europe as well, but an exact release date has been confirmed yet. We also don’t know whether or not the phone will be available in India or western market anytime soon.

There are three models of the Honor 7. Its base model features 16GB of internal storage and LTE and sells for 1999 Yuan ($322). It’s mid model features dual-SIM card slots and sells for 2199 Yuan ($354). Its high-end model features 64GB of internal storage and sells for 2499 Yuan ($402).

Huawei officially launched its latest flagship ‘Honor 7’ today in three different variants. All the three variants sports the same Aluminium alloy while they are differed by the connectivity and storage options. The basic one from all the three variants comes with 16GB of Storage, and a 4G LTE supported single SIM, the second variant has the dual SIM with 4G LTE supported on both of them, and the third variant comes with 64GB of internal storage.

All the other specifications remain same on all the three variants. As earlier reported, these devices come with 5.2-inch Full HD (1920×1080) display with a pixel density of 423ppi. They are powered by the in-house 64-bit Kirin 935 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with Mali T628 GPU and 3GB of RAM. All three models support microSD card expansion.

The devices have a 20MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. As speculated Honor 7 sports a fingerprint scanner below the rear camera just like on the Mate 7. Connectivity of the devices includes Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, and 4G LTE. All can be kept powered ON by a 3,100mAh battery; you can charge from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes. The devices run on Android 5.0 Lollipop based EMUI 3.1. It measures 143.2 x 71.9 x 8.5mm and weighs 157 grams.

These devices are priced at $322 for the 16GB variant, $355 for the Dual LTE variant and $400 for the high-end 64GB variant. Considering the specs offered by the entire three variants we can say Huawei had priced very aggressively.

Earlier: Huawei Honor 7 launch confirmed on June 30th

Earlier today, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has revealed a new poster on the Weibo which confirms that the Honor 7 flagship is coming on June 30. The picture shows the number seven written inside a fingerprint. Below the image is the date, 30th June. The image of the fingerprint also confirms the recent leaks which said that the phone will feature a rear placed fingerprint recognition.

Based on rumored specs, the Huawei Honor 7 will pack a 5-inch display, 13MP primary camera, a secondary front camera, and a 3,280mAh battery. The device will allegedly run on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop, skinned by Emotion UI 3.1.

Earlier: Huawei Honor 7 to run on it’s own home grown OS Kirin
Last month is was reported that the Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has plans to move away from Google’s Android operating system and venture into one of its own. The company is reportedly working on an homegrown-OS dubbed Kirin.

Now, a leaked screenshot of the alleged Honor 7 has revealed the new Kirin OS 1.0. If the reports are to be believed, the new OS will arrive as soon as this month. Honor 7 will be the company’s first smartphone to run on its new own OS. Huawei is believed to be working on this operating system (Kirin OS) for the past three years. Till now, the company has not revealed anything about a new homegrown OS.

The screenshot also revealed other specs of the new Honor 7. The device runs on HiSilicon (read Huawei) Kirin 935 chipset and 4GB of RAM. Rumors are that another version of the device will come with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

Earlier: The Honor 7 smartphone recently passed through TENAA, the Chinese version of the FCC that certifies products for sale. The images with the model number PLK-AL10 shows a fingerprint sensor at the back of the device, just below the camera unit. And it looks exactly like the leaked images of an all metal body.

While not much information about the unit was released, the TENAA confirmed that the handset will support TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA2000, CDMA 1X and GSM connectivity.

According to the rumors, the new Honor 7 will sport a 5-inch screen with a 1080p display. It will be powered by a Kirin 935 mobile chipset and will include a 3GB RAM. On the storage front, the device will have 16GB on on-board storage.

Towards the rear end, the Honor 7 will have a 13MP camera with LED flash and OIS and may also sport a fingerprint sensor located below it. Both the devices are said to be made out of metal, and will run on Android Lollipop and will include Emotion UI 3.0 out-of-the-box as a layer above it. The Honor 7 will include a 3280 mAh battery while the Honor 7 Plus will have a 4,000 mAh battery.

With less than a week left until the event at which Huawei is expected to launch the Honor 7, a new teaser image has appeared online.The teaser has a famous quote from Albert Einstein, “Imagination is Everything”. Apart from the blue spiral-shaped image, the company has not yet revealed anything about the features of the device.

There are reports that there will be two different versions of the device, one high-end (the Honor 7 Plus) and the other low-end (the Honor 7). According to the rumours, the new Honor 7 will sport a 5-inch screen with a 1080p display. It will be powered by a Kirin 935 mobile chipset and will include a 3GB RAM. On the storage front, the device will have 16GB on on-board storage.

However, the Honor 7 Plus will sport a 4GB RAM along with a 128 GB internal storage. It could have a 5.5-inch screen with a 1080p display, a Kirin 950 processor along with a dual-lens rear camera. As of now, there is no information provided if the devices will have expandable storage.

If latest reports are to be believed Huawei is has already started working on the successor of Huawei’s Honor 6. The phones will be released in two variants – regular and high-end which might be called Honor 7 and Honor 7 Plus. As per the rumors, the regular version of the Honor 7 will be released in June while the high-end version will be released in July.It looks like Huawei’s Honor 6 and Honor 6 Plus will soon get successors

The Honor 7 with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory is expected to be priced around $320 (1,999 CNY), while a more premium variant, with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space, is expected to cost around $435 (2.699 CNY). The latter might be available starting early July.

The Honor 7 is said to be made out of metal, runs Android Lollipop, and sports a 5-inch 1080p display. The handset may also feature a fingerprint scanner, a 13 MP rear camera with OIS, an octa-core Kirin 935 processor, and a 3280 mAh battery.

As for the Huawei Honor 7 Plus, this could have a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Kirin 950 processor, and a dual-lens rear camera. The handset might not be launched before the fourth quarter of the year.
