According to various sources, we expected Huawei’s Mate 9 would be unveiled at IFA 2016 in Berlin which is likely to begin from August 31 onwards. But now we hear that it might not get unveiled there. As there is hardly any benchmark out there showing information about this Mate 9, we expect that it might be delayed. Anyways, we have some information on the specs as leaked on GFXBench website.
It appears it will feature a 5.9-inch FHD display with resolutions of 1920 X 1080 pixels, and the touchscreen will support 5 finger gestures at the least. Coming to the processor, it will have an octa-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz with HiSilicon Hi3660 SoC. And it seems this could be a new generation SoC by Huawei’s Kirin which will have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory along with an ARM Mali – T880 GPU.
If this leak is true, it will feature a 12MP camera with 4K video recording. Few other features of the rear camera would be Autofocus, Flash, Face detection, HDR Photo, and Touch Focus. And the front camera would be 8MP. But earlier it was rumored the rear camera would be 20 MP.
As Mate 8 which was launched last year, was powered by Kirin 950 octa-core processor, and P9 is coming with Kirin 955 octa-core processor, we expect the Mate 9 would come with Kirin 960. Kirin 950 was unable to compete against the Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 chipsets, so this Kirin 960 might be able to compete with them or outperform them.
The Mate 9 could also come with Leica branding, like P9 and P9 Plus. And we expect it would come with Android 7.0 Nougat as the date of unveiling is still unknown to us. Except these, we can expect fingerprint scanner, USB Type – C, curved 2.5D display, etc. As these are only speculations based on the leaks, we cannot confirm any of this information to be true. So stay tuned for confirmations and updates on this.
