How to Increase Kyocera Echo Battery Life

Kyocera EchoKyocera Echo on Sprint is one example of innovation. Kyocera Echo is an Android 2.2 OS based smart phone with a unique design which comprises of a hinge design especially designed to provide flexibility and yes it suites really well, though the package becomes a little bulky. Well it goes without saying that Kyocera Echo is the first phone to bring in dual screen Android smartphone in the Android market. It does not stop at this but it also comes with a proprietary software to manage the content on the screens. This is a great idea and it allows us to watch content on both the screens. Well if an Android phone comprises of things like dual screens, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, clear and amazing high resolution screen, Wi – Fi hot spot capabilities, etc then we definitly must take the battery usage under consideration. The phone when open completely provides an extended resolution of 960 x 800 which is a little close to 1024 x 600. The battery on Kyocera Echo is 1370mAh capacity battery which a little less than some new Android smartphones and Android tablets, the battery may just last as per requirements if check certain aspects and make optimal usage of the resources.

Battery lasting life depends on usage, usage differs from people to people, people require phone resources to accomplish certain task on their phones. Thus managing these resources we can increase the battery life by certain amount. Always keep track of following terms:

  • Display.
  • Mobile Data usage.
  • Connectivity options.
  • GPS Settings.
  • Notification alerts.
  • Application settings.
  • Charging methods and Charging habits.
  • Multimedia feature usage.

Display:
The phone is equipped with dual displays and it is obvious that we may relate most of the battery usage with the display, but if we set display brightness settings to LOW with display time out time to 15 seconds then it probably would solve most of our doubts. Major battery draining component is now thus taken care of, but there is one more thing that requires attention, if an unlock pattern is used then it will take a longer time to unlock the screen and it thus contributes in ON time of the screen thus this kind of added security must used only when you are carrying high security data on your Kyocera Echo.

Mobile Data usage:
whenever we are connected to our service provider be it a 3G or EDGE it uses the data connectivity feature over mobile networks and this option thus allows certain applications to connect to web sites which demand continuous data exchange between Android phone and the web server. This feature is generally to measure performance characteristics but they tend to use up considerable amount of battery. This option found under Wireless and Networks settings can be kept disabled if you need to stop complete data connectivity under Mobile Networks. If this option is kept disabled then the SYNC function will not work even if the Auto SYNC is enabled and it is recommended to keep this option disabled and always SYNC data manually.

Connectivity options:
There are various connectivity options on Kyocera Echo like Wi – Fi b / g, Bluetooth connectivity and Wi – Fi Hotspot. The Wi – Fi connectivity must be brought under use only when there is a Wi – Fi network present around the area and make sure you are subcribed on a Wi – Fi network. Try avoiding connaction with open wireless networks as they are less secured and sometimes it gives you less usable bandwidth and it thus uses a lot of battery because it takes a long time to open a particular web page.

Wi – Fi Hotspot feature allows you to connect your Laptop or any other Wi – Fi receptor device to your Kyocera Echo and mobile network data connectivity can be thus used on that paticular device. One must rarely use this feature, it is useful but it uses a lot of power.

Other connectivity feature is Bluetooth technology, it is one feature which will be widely used and is very useful in streaming media and file tranfers. Keep the setting OFF when it is not required. If Bluetooth function is left ON then it will try searching for new Blutooth devices present in its vicinity, thus wasting battery life. Make sure that you turn OFF all these connectivity settings as soon as you are finished working with them.

GPS Settings:
GPS must only be used whenever you are outdoors. Normally GPS requires to acheive Line of Sight with the GPS satellites and this cannot be achieved whenever you are indoors. Instead of GPS one can make use of location which is provided over network. Network values are not accurate but they are equally helpful.

Notification alerts:
The notification alerts must ideally be of LOW volume with no vibration settings. Keeping high volume use up resources of battery. Notifications must be configured in such a way that only important event throw the notification alerts.

Application settings:
Being an Android phone Kyocera provides the luxury of using and trying as many applications as you want but then what happens is, some applications run in the background and they must be controlled in order tto save some important resources like RAM and processor cycles for more imprtant applications like dialer, calls, etc. These applications can be controlled from manage applications setting found under application settings. Another method to control these applications is to install an application which will allow you to force close applications and schedule you to close applications.

Chargng methods and Charging habits:
Charging must be carried out using the provided charger. Every charger for different Android smart phones differ with the difference in the battery type. Thus in order to save the battery life is to use the provided charger only. Using any other charger will permanantly damage your battery or the phone itself. USB charging is not a preferred charging method thus it must be avoided.

Talking on the phone while charging, using feature like Wi – Fi Hotspot while charging and uneven charging times or frequent charging are some of the phone charging habits and these must be avoided as far as possible. Always charge your phone once daily and make sure that you have fully charged the phone.

Multimedia Features:
Kyocera Echo has many multimedia features like watching videos, playing music and camera. While watching videos or playing audio files while streaming or using offline content make sure that you do not listen to any of these at FULL volume. Brightness level of MODERATE setting can allow you comfortable video viewing. Using camera is fun but make sure that flash is not used even when there is ample amount of light available in the surrounding.
