One of the highest selling devices in India was Galaxy S5 and for all those users who are still on the Marshmallow OS can now update their device with the latest Nougat 7.0 OS. While there won’t be ay official release of Android 7.0 as confirmed by Samsung for Galaxy S5 as oit has already announced the end of life for this device in terms of OS updates. So, let’s check out on how you can install the latest Android 7.0 OS in this smartphone using a custom ROM.
Pre Requisites:
++ Make sure to create the backup of all essential things in your device as mentioned below;
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card and remove the same from device before flashing the firmware
Navigate to the path “Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging” and enable the USB Debugging.
++ Make sure that the battery left in your device is at minimum of 60%.
++Once you are done with the above steps, let’s proceed to the next step where we have mentioned the exact rooting process in your device.
Make sure that your Galaxy S5 is rooted successfully which can be checked with the help of “Root Checker” app.

Procedure to Update Galaxy S5 with Android 7.0 OS:
++ Download Odin for your Windows PC and unzip the same.
++ Download the Nougat 7.0 Zip Package and Google Apps Package from here and place the same in your device’s internal memory.
++ Now, you need to replace your device’s stock recovery software with the Team Win’s one. Download the .tar file of TWRP (Team Win’s Recovery Project) in your PC.
++ Enter your device in the download mode. Galaxy S5 can be entered into the download mode by holding the Volume Down button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device.
++ Open Odin in your computer and connect your Galaxy S5 using USB cable in download mode.
++ Post connecting, click on “AP” and select the .tar TWRP recovery file to flash the same by clicking on Start.
++ Once it’s done, device will restart in the normal mode. Now, you need to enter your device in the recovery mode. Galaxy S5 can be entered into the recovery mode by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device.
++ In TWRP mode, tap on Install and select the Android 7.0 zip package and then the Google Apps package to install the same.
++ Once it’s done, device needs to be rebooted after which your device will be loaded with Android 7.0 OS.
