How to Install Nexus 7 with Clock Work Mod Recovery Image – Tutorial

Procedure to Install Nexus 7 with Touch & Normal Clock Work Mod Recovery:

  • Download the Clock Work Recovery Image from here to your computer. Once downloaded, you now will have to download the Fast boot package in your computer. Extract the Fastboot.zip file to the C:\ drive in your computer and ensure that all the files are there in it. Note, that you are placing the file only in the C Drive and not on any other drive.
  • Now, copy the Clock Work mod recovery image file in your Fastboot folder and then in all your C:/Fastboot folder should contain the 5 files.
  • Up next, download the ES File Explorer in your computer from the PLAYS tore and open the same. Tap on the “Settings” icon and then select the “Up to Root” option and then select the “Root Explorer” option and select the “Root Explorer” option and then tick on the “Mount File System Option”. As soon as all these three options are selected, tap on back and Exit from the Settings option.
  • Go to the root folder in the Root explorer and then in the system folder, long press on the recovery-from-boot.p file and delete the same. From the path, “Settings » Developer options” enable the USB Debugging Mode. Connect your nexus 7 device to the computer and then open the Command prompt in your computer to enter the below mentioned command,

cd C:\Fastboot

adb reboot bootloader

fastboot flash recovery ….img (type in the file name of recovery image in the place of … with the )

  • Now, you will see that the device will be installed with the custom recovery image. Once it’s done, you now will have to enter the command as “fastboot reboot” for rebooting the Nexus 7 tablet.
  • To try out the Clock Work mod recovery or to boot your Nexus 7 in the CWM, turn off your ASUS Nexus 7 and then press and hold the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons together till the device boots into CWM recovery. If you have installed the touch based recovery then you need to make use of the options by touching the options or else you can make use of the Volume buttons so as to select the options.

Note: If your Nexus 7 gets stuck in the Nexus Logo or say if it gets stuck at any point of time, long press the power button to turn Off the device and then re-apply the update by following the above instructions.
