The Karbonn Titanium S5 smartphone was just launched by Karbonn for a price tag near Rs. 12000 in the Indian market, while the Micromax Canvas HD A116 is already in the market with the price tag of Rs. 15000, and both of them have got their own best features. Karbonn Titanium S5 vs Micromax Canvas HD

Design, Display and Form Factor

The Micromax A116 is too bulky with the thickness being 10.7mm at the thickest point, while the Karbonn Titanium S5 is 8.95mm thick, but that doesn’t take all the beauty away. It still looks better than the counterpart, and the display is a better one, with the 5-inch screen having an HD display with the screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, while the 5-inch screen in the S5 has got a qHD display with the screen resolution of 960 x 540 pixels.
The S5 doesn’t look like anything near the best designed devices, but the A116 still has got a standard design which one would like to hold in their hands and not feel bad about it.

Processor, Internal Specs

The process is almost the same in both, but the actual functionality could be a bit different, and we haven’t got a hands-on with the S5, so cannot actually compare, but specs-wise the A116 has got a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 Processor, and similarly there’s a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor included in the Titanium S5 too, and both the devices have got 1GB of RAM.
The internal storage too in both the devices is the same at 4GB each, expandable to 32GB using the MicroSD card. Even with most of the other internal stuff like the operating system and the connectivity options, both the phones are quite same.

Camera

The camera on the rear side in both the devices is the 8.0 megapixel Camera (3264×2448 Pixels) With Auto Focus And LED Flash, but the video recording in the Micromax A116 is better with the 720p video recording possible in it. But when talking about the front camera, the 2-megapixel camera on the front side in the Titanium S5 can capture pictures of 1600×1200 pixels dimensions, while the one in A116 is of 0.3 megapixel quality capturing pics at 640×480 pixels dimensions.

Other aspects

  • The battery in the Micromax A116 is of 2100 mAh capacity, while that in the Karbonn S5 is of 2000 mAh capacity.
  • The 3G connectivity of the A116 is of up to HSDPA 21 Mbps, HSUPA 11 Mbps while in the S5 is HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps.

Pricing

This is one of the major factors to consider, and here the Micromax is a bit pricey with the pricing set to around Rs. 15000, compared to the Rs. 12000 price of the quad-core device from Karbonn.

Final Verdict – Which of these would be a better buy?

For us, the Micromax Canvas HD A116 wins the race, with although the higher price, has got a better display, an HD one along with a good video capturing, and the design too looks quite better, but we aren’t asking someone to throw the thoughts of getting an S5 totally away, because it too has some good features and an be a final choice for those with the budget constrains.

We had earlier done the comparison Karbonn Titanium S1 vs Micromax Canvas HD A116, do check out to understand what upgrades Karbonn did.

To judge whether the Samsung Galaxy Grand with the same screen size can be in the comparison with these two smartphones, it is hard to do that as one would incline on the pricing of Rs. 21000, and the Dual-core processor in it when compared to the cheaper prices and a high-end processor in the smartphones from Micromax and Karbonn, but the thought would rise many a times as Samsung as of now leads the market with the standard and strong devices which do provide a decent and easy-to-use interface and is powerful internally too.
