Update Galaxy X Cover 2 with Official XXAMB3 Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware

Samsung is all set with the update to fix some of the minor bugs with the help of an update. Just in case if you missed it or wish to apply manually which is a much effective way to update then we will run through the detailed procedure which will help you to update your device with the latest Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware. Quick Pre Requisites:

  • Create a backup of all the data with the help of below mentioned steps so as to make sure that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Don’t use KIES or ROM Manager for backing up the data as with this you may not be able to restore the backed up data.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging and also make sure that your device is left with the minimum of 40% or the device will get turned off in the middle of customizing process.

Procedure to Update Galaxy X Cover 2 smartphone with Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware:

  • Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and then all you need to do is to just extract the file and open Odin in your computer.
  • Now, turn Off your phone so that it can be entered in the Download Mode. Download mode in Galaxy X Cover 2 can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which you will get to see a green robot indicating that the device has entered in the download mode.
  • Connect your Galaxy X Cover 2 to the computer with the help of original USB cable and then you will see that the ID : COM section will turn Yellow indicating that all the drivers have been installed successfully
  • Click on “PDA” to select the tar file which you will get from the extracted firmware file. Select the same and click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update. It will take around 3 – 4 minutes for applying the update. In some cases it may even take more than 4 -5 minutes.
  • Once the firmware is updated successfully, the device will be rebooted. Till you see the country selection option, don’t pull out the USB cable.

Note: If the device gets stuck in the Samsung logo or gets into the boot loop mode then you need to long press the power button and turn off the device. Repeat the process from the start by following the instructions.
