Lava today launched a new smartphone in its Pixel series named Pixel V2, the successor of Pixel V1 launched in July this year. The device is priced at Rs.10,750; that is slightly lower than its predecessor (Rs.11,350). Pixel V2 is already available to purchase offline, and the company promised to make it available to buy online starting September 15.
Unlike the Pixel V1, the Pixel V2 does not fall into the failed Android One category and based on the specifications it is quite an update over V1, especially in the camera department.
Commenting on the launch Navin Chawla, Senior Vice President & Head Product, LAVA International said, “The smartphone segment in India is growing exponentially, driven primarily by youth. With smartphones becoming an indispensable part of their lives, the camera becomes so much more important. The youth today wants to capture special moments in their life and share them instantly in their social circle. To enable them to capture those moments perfectly, we are delighted to announce the second variant in the Pixel Series with the best in class camera hardware & software features. With this device, we aim to build further a strong portfolio of smartphones in the 10k range and deliver on our mission of empowering people to do more and be more.”
The Pixel V2 flaunts a smaller 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with Asahi Dragontrail Glass protection and Oleophobic coating on top of it (when compared to the 5.5-inch display of Pixel V1). It comes powered by MediaTek’s MTK6735 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali-T720 GPU. The device has 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage and microSD card support for expansion upto 32GB.
It comes equipped with a 13MP rear snapper with dual LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP front-facing shooter for selfie lovers with LED flash. It has dual sim support with 4G-LTE connectivity, and other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 2.0. A 2500mAh Li-Po battery backs the device and it runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based Star OS 2.0. The device weighs 128 grams and comes in Royal Sparkle black and Icy White colors, it will also be available in Prism Blue color in October.
With the Pixel V2 at that price tag, Lava will be competing with devices from Micromax, Xiaomi and Motorola that fall in the same price bracket.
