Along with the announcement of the Lenovo Vibe X Android smartphone, Lenovo has announced the 7-inch Lenovo S5000 tablet device with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, and the tablet looks a mid-range one with the pricing too set aptly in accordance to that. This new tablet in the S series has got a 7-inch HD display with the screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, and it’s a wide viewing angle display from Lenovo where you don’t see anything on the front side except the display, earpiece and the front camera along with the Lenovo logo in the bottom. It’s a 178-degree wide angle viewing to be precise.
Internally, the device is powered by the 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Media Tek 8389 processor and this is supported by 1GB of RAM. Running on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the Lenovo S5000 has got a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.6-megapixel front facing camera.
The device has got rear speakers, and one of the good things is the battery backup, with the company providing a 3450 mAh battery which is known to offer up to 8 hours of continuous Wi-Fi browsing, which is quite a lot. The tablet device comes with the support for the 3G SIM connectivity, and with the SIM one can make the normal voice calls. There is a separate Wi-Fi only variant of the tablet too which would be made available.
The S5000 is 7.9mm thick, and it weighs 246 gms, which is quite less for a device of 7-inch screen size. Given the pricing info, it is just a 16GB storage option that is available, with the 16GB Wi-Fi version available for 199 Euros, while the 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G version is available for 249 Euros, and the tablet would be out in the market in the 4th quarter of 2013.
