Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro Launched in India via Flipkart – Details

Update: Lenovo hosted an event on Thursday where the company announced the recently launched Yoga Tablet 2 series in India. These tablets are going to be available through Flipkart from October 17th, 2014. Currently, all the three Yoga Tablet 2 series devices (including the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro) have been listed as ‘out of stock’ on Flipkart.

The Yoga Tablet 2 series comes in 3 different screen sizes. The 8-inch (1920×1200 pixels) variant priced at Rs. 20,990; the 10-inch (1920×1200 pixel) variant at Rs. 28,991, and the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro with a 13-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) display priced at Rs. 47,990. All the three tablets run Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box.

The Chinese electronics giant Lenovo announced new YOGA Tablet 2 Pro on 9th October in an event organized in London. New tablet was developed in collaboration with the Ashton Kutcher (American actor), who joined Lenovo as a product engineer a year ago. Lenovo has also launched the Yoga Tablet 2, which can run either Windows or Android, depending on user requirements.

The new Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is powered by Atom Z3745 Processor (up to 1.86 GHz) and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) WQHD IPS Display. The device has 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB internal memory which can be extended up to 64 GB. It also includes a micro-USB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Microphone with noise reduction.

The feature that stands out is the built-in pico projector. The projector lets users turn walls into an instant TV or movie screen.The DLP chip inside gives out 40-50 lumens with a native WGA resolution. The projector can be activated by a physical button on the side of the chassis, or by a software button on the main interface screen.

Earlier Yoga tablets came with three modes, i.e., Stand, Tilt or Hang. The YOGA Tablet 2 Pro comes with a fourth mode – Hang. With this users can interact with the tablet in a new way by hanging it anywhere, they want.

The Platinum-coloured tablet  comes with 8MP auto-focus rear camera with f2.2 wide-aperture lens, BSI sensor and 1.6MP HD front-facing camera. It offers various connectivity options such as 4G (optional), Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n (2.4 and 5 GHz), and Bluetooth 4.0. The device is powered by 9600 mAh battery with up to 15 hours of usage. Lenovo added Dual Front large-chamber 8W JBL Speakers, Subwoofer, Dolby Audio and Wolfson Master Hi-Fi Codec. The tablet remains thin and light at just 3.7mm thin and 950 grams.

The Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 Pro would be available at the end of October via www.lenovo.com. The 13-inch model would sale at $499 with 32GB of internal storage. Lenovo’s Yoga Tablet 2 running Android comes in at $249 for the 8-inch model and $299 for the 10-inch model. The Windows-based model is pricier slightly higher at $299 and $399 for the respectively.
