LG Pocket Photo is a device from LG that gives 2 x 3 inch photos taken from your Smart phone. This LG Pocket Photo is a portable printer and like the Polaroid, it is also capable of changing the look of the photos passing through it, like making it brighter, saturating its colors or for that matter just giving a different look to it. In this modern era everything is revolving around Smart phones, from making a call to booking a flight, and this one taking the advantage of the Bluetooth / NFC connectivity, takes the printing of photos to the next level where the user would instantly be able to print the best captures.
The one we got our hands on, during the LG Tech Show 2014, is the second generation Pocket Photo which is quite lighter and easier to hold, and there were three color options in display. The self ink paper is something exclusive from LG and once the initial set provided by LG is printed, you can order the next one only from the LG stores, so you need to keep a check on the stores around you if you plan to purchase this portable printer.
The printing of the photo can be done by downloading the LG’s Pocket Photo App via Google Play store. This is an exclusive app for Pocket photo with which the user will be able to edit the photos, share them with your friend in the social networks, anywhere and anytime. Various types of information like the QR codes can also be shared with this app. These photos can be printed with the Bluetooth or NFC connectivity via Smart phones. This app is available on Android Operating System, iOS and Windows Phone.
This LG Pocket Photo is expected to go for sale in the US in the coming months and will be priced at $149 and the photo paper will be costing $15 for a pack of 30. Moreover the there is no ink cartridge in the device so the user need not worry every time about refilling it or changing it. The printing takes place by heating up the photo paper that is placed inside and the printing process will take about a minute, and that’s quite time saving as you could take a photo and set it for printing, and get busy capturing some other click while the printer does its job.
We have seen this Pocket photo earlier also but the company claims that this new model will be coming 4 mm smaller making it easier to carry along with you when you are on a tour or an outing. It is also claimed to hold its charge for longer period of time and last longer. Personally I feel this is a good enough device that is priced for $149 which is pretty small and powerful. One of the disadvantages here could be the size of the photo, which is limited to 3inch x 2inch and thus, people expecting larger than this should be disappointed with this, but again, when you talk of the quality – the printing is done at 600 dpi as said by the LG representatives at the show. Does this fit into your budget for the price of $149? let us know!
