LG Thrill 4G P925 – Steps to Install Official Factory Firmware

Procedure to Revert back to Stock Firmware:

  • First up you need to ensure that your LG Thrill 4G device is rooted and once it’s rooted, you need to download the Recovery Image in your computer which we will be checking out on how to use the same.
  • Once you download the same, you need to extract the recovery image and ensure that the USB Debugging is enabled in your phone. Enable USB Debugging Mode from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging. Ensure that the USB Debugging option is ticked as shown in the below screen capture.

  • Now, connect your device to the computer with the device of USB Cable and from the extracted files you need to open the “recovery manager.bat”.
  • After this, you will have to Download LG Flash Package from here to your computer and extract the files which will be having the .kdz file.
  • Uninstall all the LG Drivers installed in your phone and then you need to restart the computer so that all the drivers are uninstalled successfully.
  • From the extracted folder, in “Drivers” folder you need to open the executable file “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN36AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3. 6.exe”. Now, in the “Server” folder you need to launch the executable file “shttp3.exe”.
  • At this stage an error might just pop up after which you need to select “I agree with this license, and I accept all items” and then select “Update entry in main menu” > “Add to Startup”. Make the password as “admin” and click on “Install” to install the same easily.
  • Up next you need to select “Small HTTP Server” from the Start Menu.
  • On the TaskBar, a new icon should appear. Right click the icon and go to “Settings” select the “HTTP” tab and change the “Port” to “9002” and then Click “OK” option present in the top right corner.
  • After this, you need to navigate to “C:\shttps” on your hard drive to copy the contents of “WWW Folder” into the “C:\shttps\www” directory.
  • Up next, navigate to “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc” on the hard drive and then Copy the “hosts” file in “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc” to the “ORIG” folder in the LG Flash Package. Delete the “hosts” file from “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc” and Copy the “hosts” file from the “MOD” folder in the LG Flash Package to “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc
  • In the “Software” folder, install the “B2CAppSetup.exe” file and then in the “FLASHING” folder, launch “Windows Enabler.exe” in which you will find a new icon which will be appearing on the taskbar. Now, click on the icon and turn it ON.
  • In the “Flashing” Folder, you need to select “msmxml.msi” file and open the Device manager by following the below mentioned path in the appropriate operating system.

Windows XP – Right Click “My Computer“, click the “Hardware” tab, and select “Device Manager
Windows Vista/7 – In the Start Menu search bar, type “Recovery Manager” and select it at the top

  • Unplug your phone and take out the battery. Now, re insert the battery and enter the device in the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume Up key and then power ON the device. After this, in the Device manager look for the new “COM PORT”. All the USB Ports should be active in your device.
  • Launch the “UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe” file and navigate to your .kdz file in the “Select kdz file” box to choose “Normal web upgrade test” > “upgrade start” > “Select country and language” > “Country” > “Different Country” > “Language” to your Language and click on “Ok”.

Now, once the device is applied with the update the phone will be rebooted automatically. So there you go, you have now successfully updated your phone to the stock factory firmware. Do share with us in the comments section just in case if you face any issues in the process of firmware update.
