Having a Galaxy A5 Android smartphone from Samsung? If yes, then it’s time to manually update the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS to make the most of your phone. With new design and with bug fixes, your experience will be richer and more awesome. This update comes after the recent Lollipop 5.0 release which came in for A3 and A7 smartphones from Samsung. This update is the first major release to the Galaxy A5 A500H variant. This update brings in the material design which is now flatter than before. So let’s check out on what are the steps with which you can apply this firmware update.

Quick Pre Requisites:

All the updates in your device should be backed up manually and not with any automated tools as it may not help you restore the data.

SMS – Download SMS Backup & Restore app and create the backup. Once done, transfer the backup file to your computer,
Call Log – Download Call log Backup & Restore app and create the backup. Once done, transfer the backup file to your computer,
Local Files – Transfer all the data like photos, downloads, music files, videos etc. to your computer.

Minimum battery life in your Galaxy A5 should be more than 50%.

Enable USB Debugging from the Settings in your device.

Assuming that all the above steps are adhered, lets proceed to the detailed guide which will help you install this latest firmware.

Procedure to Update Galaxy A5 with Lollipop 5.0.2 Android OS:

Download Lollipop 5.0.2 for Galaxy A5 along with Odin. Once downloaded, unzip both of them and open Odin in your computer.

Turn off your Galaxy A5 so that it can be entered in the Download Mode. Open Odin in your computer.

Galaxy A5 can be entered into the download mode by holding the Volume Down button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device.

In Download Mode, connect your Galaxy A5 to the computer with original USB cable to see that ID:COM turns Blue.

In Odin, you need to select the below mentioned files which you will get from the extracted folder;

Click on “AP/ PDA” to choose the file which has name “AP/ PDA” in it,
Click on “PIT” to choose the file which has name “PIT” in it,
Click on “CSC” to choose the file which has “CSC” in it,
Click on “BL” to select the file which has “BL” in it,
Click on “CP” to select he file which has “CP” in it

Make sure that Auto Reboot and F:Reset time options are ticked.

Click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update. Once the device is updated successfully, device will reboot.

Once the device is rebooted successfully, disconnect the phone from computer. You can check from the path of “Settings > About Phone” to get the firmware info where it will be mentioned as Android 5.0.2 build XXU1BOF6.
