LG Optimus G E975 Android smartphone users can now update their phones with the latest Jellybean 4.3 Android OS. The best part of this update is that it comes with all the latest features and bug fixes which further improvises the user experience of the device. All thanks to the Cyanogen Team for rolling out this update, there is still no clue on by when there will be an official firmware update released by LG.
Quick Pre Requisites:
- All the data in your device should be backed up with the help of below mentioned steps manually so that the same can be restored easily. Don’t back up the data with the help of LG Suite as it won’t help you restore the data.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” enable the SUB Debugging Mode. Minimum charge left in your phone is 30% or else there is a risk of device getting turned off in the middle of firmware update increases which may even brick your LG Optimus G E975.
- Since this is the Custom ROM Firmware, make sure that your device is rooted and to check the same you will have to download the “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store.

Procedure to Update LG Optimus G E975 with Jellybean 4.3 Android OS:
- Download the Jellybean 4.3 Android OS Package along with Google Apps Package. Once downloaded, connect your phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable to place the two zip files in your device.
- Disconnect the device from computer and download the “Quick Boot” application from Google PLAY Store.
- Open the Quick Boot app in your device and enter the device in the recovery mode. In recovery mode, you will need to select “Wipe Data / Factory Reset” and “Wipe Cache Partition” from the respective options. Once done, select “advanced > wipe dalvik cache” as well and then select “go back”.
- Select “install zip from sd card” to choose the Cyanogen mod custom ROM firmware package and Google Apps Package from here to your computer. Once selected, confirm the same.
- It will take around 4 -5 minutes for applying both the zip files. Once done, select “go back” to select the option of “reboot system now” for rebooting the device. To check on whether the device is updated with the latest firmware of Jellybean 4.3 or not, you will need to check the same from the path “Settings > About Phone” where the current firmware version will be mentioned as Jellybean 4.3 Android OS.
Note: If the device gets into the boot loop sequence or say gets stuck in the welcome screen, just re insert the battery and re follow the above instructions so as to again follow the above mentioned instructions.
