How to Manual Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 with Official Jellybean 4.1.1 OTA Firmware

Tab 2 New LogoSamsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 smart phone can now be installed with the latest Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware and is now out officially, this all new firmware update is based on the latest JRO03C build. Though this firmware is not yet pushed out officially to all the devices and all the countries, this can be easily updated with the simple instructions which we will be checking out in this article. The actual version of Jellybean may differ with the one which will be rolling out in the coming days. The update which we will be checking out is the OTA update and is having the built of DDBLI1.

The best part of this update is, after applying this update the warranty won’t be void and also you can revert back to your current firmware at any point of time. You can note down the current firmware version from the path “Settings > About Phone”. In the past few days we have come up with the articles like rooting as well as custom ROM firmwares.

Before proceeding you need to ensure that all the user level data in the device is backed up since the data in the device will have to be wiped off. Don’t make use of PC Suite for backing up the data as it doesn’t support the beta or unreleased firmwares.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,

Disable all the security suites present in your device as these tools tend to interrupt the process of firmware update. Also, you will have to ensure that the minimum charge left in the device is not less than 40% so as to make sure that the device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update. If your device is rooted then the phone will be unrooted after applying this update.

Procedure to Update Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 with Official Jellybean OTA Update:

  • Download the DDBLH3 OTA Zip firmware package from here to your computer along with the Odin tool.  Once downloaded, open the Odin in your computer. Once opened, turn Off your phone so that it can be entered in the download mode.
  • The recovery mode in Galaxy Tab 2 P3110 can be entered by pressing the Volume Up rocker key + power button at the same time while the device is turned Off. If the device starts in the normal mode, you need to re try the process of the entering the device into the download mode.
  • Connect your Galaxy Tab 2 with your computer / Laptop and then in Odin you will see that the ID : COM section will turn Yellow indicating that all the drivers are installed successfully.

Note: If ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,

        Install the USB Drivers in your computer &

        Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.

  • Click on “PDA” to select “” and once you have selected the file, click on “Start” for starting the process of firmware update.
  • Once the firmware is updated successfully, the device will be restarted. Please be informed that the device will take longer time than expected for rebooting the device. For checking the same, head over to path “Settings > About phone > Firmware version” where it will be mentioned as Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware update.

Note: Just in a rare case if the device is not updated and it gets into the boot loop mode, you need to again clear the cache from the recovery mode and retry the whole process from the start.
