Manual Update Xperia T with Kit Kat 4.4 Android Firmware – Guide

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • Not with the PC Companion or ROM Manager, create a backup of all the data with the help of below mentioned manual steps.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your computer from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.
  • Make sure that your SONY Xperia T LT30p is left with the minimum of 60% battery or else the device might just get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Being the custom ROM firmware, you will have to make sure that you have rooted the device. To check on whether your phone is rooted or not, you need to download the Root Checker App from Google Play Store.

Assuming that you are done with the above mentioned steps, let’s proceed to the next step where we have mentioned the detailed guide which will help you update the device with this Kit kat 4.4 Android firmware.

Procedure to update XPERIA T with Kit Kat 4.4 Android Firmware:

  • Disconnect the device from computer and turn Off the same so that it can be entered in the Recovery Mode.
  • Download the “ROM Manager” app from the Google PLAY Store. In ROM Manager, select “reboot into recovery mode” for entering the device in the recovery mode. You can also enter the device in the Recvoery mode with the help of manual method.
  • In recovery mode, select “Wipe data / Factory Reset” and “Wipe cache partition” to clear all the cache files if any present in your phone. After clearing the data, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the CM 10 based AOSP Firmware and Google Apps Package which you have placed in your device. Once selected, it will take around 4 -5 minutes for applying the update.

Note: If your SONY Xperia T smartphone refuses to boot up or say gets stuck on the SONY Logo which is at the start up then long press the power button to turn off the process and re follow the above mentioned instructions.

  • Once the firmware is updated successfully, you now need to check the same from the path “Settings > About Phone” from where you can check the current firmware version of Kit Kat 4.4.
