Motorola Xoom WiFi – Steps to Update with ICS Android 4.0.2 Firmware

Procedure to Update Motorola Xoom Wi Fi version with ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware:

  • Assuming that you have Rooted Motorola Xoom Wi Fi, you can now proceed to the next step.
  • Download ICS 4.0.3 AOSP Build Package along with the Google Apps Package from here to your computer. Once you download the same, connect your Xoom with your computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
  • After connecting the tablet, you need to move these two downloaded files in your tablet’s SD Card. Ensure that you are not modifying / renaming the files which are placed or keeping the files deep inside any sub folders.
  • Now, you need to boot the tablet so as to enter into the recovery mode.  The recovery mode can be entered by Holding the Volume Down button when the Motorola Logo is shown when the device is booted normally.
  • After this, in the recovery mode itself, you will find an option of “Flash Zip from SD Card”. Select “Choose Zip from sd card” to select the ICS zip file which you have placed in your Motorola Xoom Wi Fi only version.

  • After selecting the Zip file, it will take around 10 minutes to finish the rooting process. Once the device is updated successfully with the ICS build of firmware, you again need to choose “Flash Zip from SD Card”. Select “Choose Zip from sd card” to select the Google Apps Zip file which you have placed in your Motorola Xoom.
  • So as soon as both the packages are updated successfully, you now need to select the option of “++++ Go BACK ++++” to select the option of “reboot system now” so as to reboot the device. Please note that just in a rare case if the rooting doesn’t happen due to any reason then you need to ensure that the file is correctly downloaded and placed in the device.
