The Nexus 5 is just launched but things about it were already flowing around, and that included the benchmark tests and the results which showed that this smartphone has got all that is needed to be one of the top devices. Not the actual benchmarks, but there was a test done with the gaming performance and this was by the Basemark X 1.0 app which is a cross platform tester for the gaming performance of the smartphones. Interestingly, the Nexus 5 is second on the list and the first one is the iPhone 5s, running the A7 chipset and the iOS 7.
Rightware aggregates all the data and scores from all the devices and lists them out in a single chart, and the gaming chart of its has no Windows Phone powered smartphone in the top five, with the first one being the iPhone 5s, and the next four are the Android smartphones. Surprisingly, the Sharp AQUOS SHL23 is third on the list. The Basemark X benchmark is designed primarily for ARM-based smartphones and tablets on Android 4.0 or upper OS.
The testing and the results were shared even before the announcement of the Nexus 5, but all the specs of the device matched the ones shown on the official page so the results are quite believable, and why not, it’s the Snapdragon 800 processor with the Adreno 330 GPU.
There’s another benchmark, the Sunspider benchmark which was conducted a day after the launch of the Nexus 5 and even there the iPhone 5s topped the rankings while the Nexus 5 was the second best, followed by Xperia Z1 from Sony, LG G2, HTC One and then the Samsung Galaxy S4. The GFXBench T-Rex HD off-screen test had shown the Galaxy Note 3 on the top, with the iPhone 5s and Nexus 5 to follow it.
Obviously when you check the specs, there’s quite a few similar smartphones out in the market with such specs but Nexus 5 seems stable and pretty good in the various tests at least.
