Google mentioned about the wireless chargers for the Nexus devices last year, and they had launched the Orb, a wireless charger which acts as a rest with some height, but then they looked for a more sophisticated size, and this year’s wireless charger is more of a small square pad and it has a flat surface parallel to that of the smartphone which rests on it while charging.
The wireless charging happens through the Qi technology, which was recently seen quite a lot with the different Nokia Lumia devices, and the Orb was for the charging of Nexus 4, and this new one uses the same technology, thus can be used to charge your old Nexus 4, and is compatible with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.
The only color option in which this Nexus wireless charger is available, is Black, and the price of $49.99 (excluding shipping costs) looks quite good. The size of the charger is 60mm x 60mm x 12.5mm and the size might look too small but it has got the magnets to hold the phone / tablet in place. But again, the magnetism wouldn’t work with the Nexus 4 and last year’s Nexus 7 because this one is only in the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013.
We are pretty sure that this Qi charger is good to work with all the smartphones which have the Qi charging compatibility already, and that’s the advantage of a common technology rather than an exclusive one. For now, the Nexus charger is available in the US & Canada Play Stores and there is no confirmation about the availability of it in the other markets.

Looking for an alternative to this? there are quite a few ones available in the market but none would match the price of this one except for the Choe charger right now, which comes for a deal, at $29.99. Check it out on Amazon.
