After making the entry into the Indian market for the pricing of Rs. 16499 for Wi-Fi variant and 18,999 for the 3G variant, the Notion Ink Adan II has now entered the European market with the pricing set from €219. The pricing of €219 is for the Wi-Fi variant, while the 3G one would cost €249. Although we might argue that the Nexus 7 is a better deal than this, the Notion Ink Adam II has got some unique features to keep the users interested in getting one.
Powered with the dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU and a quad-core Mali-400 GPU along with 1GB of RAM, that should be quite enough for not just playing movies and games, but also for a bit of multitasking.
Earlier:
Notion Ink has had a great response to the launch of its first Notion Ink Adam tablet in the past, but later the talks just faded away as the company didn’t do much very soon. Now, finally there’s some buzz around as Notion Ink has launched the second-gen Android tablet, the Adam II with the availability right now only in India, while it would be available very soon in the other markets as well. In the first attempt, Notion Ink had used the Pixel Qi display approx. three years back when the Notion Ink Adam was launched, but now the Adam II uses the 10.1-inch IPS display.
Interestingly, Notion Ink has done something unique in the side panel this time, as that becomes a secondary display now with the nematic screen is big enough to display the notifications, and some contextual information in Black and White, just like the information that shows on the sides of any books.
Internally the Adam II is powered by the 1.5Ghz Dual Core Cortex A9 processor, and there is 1GB of RAM for supporting the multitasking. The Adam II runs the AOSP version of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and there is an internal storage of 8GB provided, with the storage expansion possible with the MicroSD card. The 10.1-inch screen could have a better display, as what we see here is a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It does come with a Asahi scratch resistant glass though. There is a 3.15-megapixel rear camera provided with the 720p HD video recording.
There are two variants of the Adam II based on the connectivity, as there is a Wi-Fi variant and a 3G variant. The other connectivity options included are Bluetooth, USB 2.0 with the USB OTG support. Design wise, the tablet looks quite unique and different especially because of the secondary display which surely would serve some purpose, but this is similar to the Blank screen notifications seen in the Moto X.
In the Indian market, the Notion Ink Adam II is priced at Rs. 16,499 for the Wi-Fi variant, and Rs. 18,999 for the 3G variant, and there is a little discount available for now. The company hasn’t mentioned about the availability in the other markets for now.
