For many countries Galaxy Nexus would have be officially called off but heading towards Japan its available since many months on Japan’s favorite network of NTT DoCoMo. Its available with different name of Galaxy Nexus SC 04D.
NTT DoCoMo today announced that the product Galaxy Nexus SC 04D has been updated via software coming out with the quality content and the latest version. No question whether it would get Ice Cream Sandwich update or not as this device is already with Android 4.0 on board, infact it was the first device to introduce with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich debut in November 2012.
This upgrade to Galaxy Nexus SC 04D would be available via the OTA upgrade and so users would be connected to the Google servers to download the upgrade package. The users with the baseband version as SC04DOMKKD, SC04DOMLA1 can upgrade the device and after upgrade the baseband version would be shown as SC04DOMLE3. To check out on which baseband version you are, on your device tap on Menu > Settings > About Phone and then scroll down to look for Baseband version. Also you can check for the upgrade via OTA by going through Menu > Settings > About Phone > Update and then tap on Check Now. The software upgrade will take not more than 10 minutes of your time as this is not a major upgrade. Among the features and improvements included in this upgrade are the perfect working of the tethering issues and also there are functional updates related to SIM unlock.
While when you are ready to upgrade your device, you should make sure that you have backed up everything as it would be lost during the upgrade procedure. During the upgrade your phone would be restarted automatically and you should proceed with the upgrade when you are connected with the Wi Fi.
