Obi Worldphone SF1 and SJ1.5 Smartphones Unveiled, Price Starting from $129

John Scully, the former CEO of Apple, is the co-founder Obi Worldphone and in partnership with Ammunition has introduced two new smartphones Obi Worldphone SF1 and SJ1.5. Both these devices are designed by San Fransisco-based Ammunition.

Coming to Obi Worldphone SF1, it uses a 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) JDI In-Cell IPS floating glass display with a pixel density of 443ppi alongside Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and oleophobic coating on top of it. It comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz with Adreno 405 GPU. It comes in two variants 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage/3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage with microSD card support for expansion upto 64GB.

SF1 sports a 13MP Sony IMX214 sensor rear camera with LED flash, hybrid autofocus, f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP selfie shooter with LED flash. It has dual sim functionality with 4G-LTE support and connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and microUSB port. It comes packed with 3000mAh capacity battery and runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop based Obi’s Lifespeed UI. The dimensions are 146 x 74 x 8 mm and weigh 147 grams.

SF1 is a stylishly designed smartphone targeting the masses, as the body is built with fiberglass with metal accents at top and bottom of the handset that gives a premium look to the device. It also features dual-mic for noise cancellation and Dolby Audio 7.1 with which we can expect some decent sound quality; other features include the quick-charge battery, easy-access and long-life.

On the other hand is the Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 an entry-level device and has an elegant asymmetrical design with squared off top and curved bottom.

Talking about its specifications, SJ1.5 uses a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display with a pixel density of 294ppi alongside 2.5D curved glass, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and oleophobic coating on top for protection. It comes powered by MediaTek MT6580 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali 400 MP2 GPU alongside 1GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage and microSD card support for expansion upto 32GB.

It sports an 8MP OmniVision OV8865 sensor rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, and a 5MP front snapper. It comes packed with a 3000mAh battery that is similar to SF1 battery and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based Obi’s Lifespeed UI out of the box. It has dual sim dual standby support, and connectivity includes 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and microUSB port. It’s dimensions measure 146 x 73 x 7.95 mm and weighs 131 grams. The only drawback of this device is it lacks 4G-LTE connectivity.

Both these devices come with some pre-loaded apps AVG AntiVirus PRO for Android, Swiftkey, AccuWeather, Clean Master, and ColorNote. Obi Worldphone Sf1 and SJ1.5 are designed to target young users at an affordable price without compromising on the quality.

Obi Worldphone SF1 and SJ1.5 will be available from October. SF1 is priced at $199 (Rs. 13,100 approx) for 2GB RAM version, $249 ( Rs. 16,430 approx) for 3GB RAM version and SJ1.5 is priced at $129 (Rs. 8,500 approx). Both these devices will first roll out in developing markets like Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Turkey. The devices will also be available in 50-70 developed markets by 2017.
