In an open letter addressed to Indian user, OnePlus has revealed that the OnePlus One smartphone will run on its new android lollipop-based OS operating system starting next year. OnePlus has taken this step as Cyanogen had granted exclusive rights in India over the Cyanogen system to Micromax.
Initially, Android team of OnePlus was building the software to power their future devices but now the same team has started working for OnePlus One. According to early estimations of OnePlus, first community build for the Indian users will be available by next month and have a production-ready build in February
According to the OnePlus, their system will be based on Lollipop and will be built to be stable, fast, and lightweight. The new system will be bloatware-free and only carry the features important to users. OnePlus has no plans of departing from Material Design nor adding unnecessary customizations.
After the system of OnePlus reaches a production-grade build, they will identify the larger clusters of their users and set up stations where company representative will flash user’s existing OnePlus One to the new system. Online instructions will also be made available to flash the devices.
