The Chinese smartphone maker, Oppo has been continuously teasing its upcoming flagship camera-centric smartphones called as Oppo R9 and R9 Plus. The brand has also recently confirmed that the smartphones will be unveiled on March 17 in an event in China. Today, the upcoming Oppo R9 and R9 Plus smartphones have passed through TENAA certification revealing few key specifications and providing us with the glimpses of how the devices will look.
Oppo R9

As per the TENAA listing, the Oppo R9 will feature a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD AMOLED display offering a pixel density of 401ppi. The device is expected to come powered by unspecified octa-core processor clocked at 1.95GHz, and we can expect it to be a MediaTek Helio X10 SoC. The smartphones come with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion upto 128GB. The devices support dual sim dual standby and is expected to run on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box
On the camera front, the device is expected to sport a 16MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front snapper for video chats and perfect selfie images. Connectivity options on the device include 4G-LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and a microUSB port. The handset comes backed by a 2850mAh battery and will also support Oppo’s VOOC Flash Charging technology as confirmed by the company. The smartphone is very slim as it measures just 6.5mm thickness weighs around 145 grams and will come in Gold and Silver color options.
Oppo R9 Plus

The Oppo R9 Plus will come with a larger 6-inch (1080×1920 pixels) AMOLED full-HD display. Under the hood, the device will pack an unknown 1.8GHz octa-core processor probably the 64-bit Snapdragon 652 chipset. The device comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in storage and also includes an externalSD card slot for expansion upto 128GB. The smartphone features the same set of cameras like the Oppo R9 with 16MP primary and 8MP front snapper. It also features similar connectivity options, and the listing shows it runs on older Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. The smartphone will power a massive 4120mAh battery with Oppo’s Fast Charging technology.The Oppo R9 Plus is slightly thicker measuring 7.4mm thickness and will come in Gold and Rose Gold color variants.
The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus looks similar in design with all-metal unibody, and it resembles the Apple’s iPhone 6s. The smartphones also sport a physical home button that double’s up as fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. Although the company has officially confirmed none of the above details, we advise you to take this with a pinch of salt.
