Procedure to flash Semaphore Kernel on Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000:
Before proceeding to the next step, you will have to ensure that you have rooted your phone by following the below link which is mentioned and then only proceed with the next step or else you may not be able to apply this Kernel in your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000.
Procedure to Root Galaxy S GT I9000 to XXJVT
- So, first up you will have to download the Semaphore Kernel Zip Package from here to your computer so that you can then proceed to unzip the same. In the process of unzipping it will prompt you for the password. Enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Once the correct password is entered, you now will have to proceed to check with the extracted files whether these match with the below mentioned screen capture or not. Please note that there will be two files which are the “Odin” and another one will be the “Semaphore Kernel” tar file.
- So, after this you need to turn Off the phone so that you can enter into the download mode. Download mode can be entered by “Pressing the Volume Down button + Pressing the Menu key and pressing these both keys you need to Power On the device by pressing the Power On button.” Just in case if the phone boots in normal mode then repeat the process till you enter into download mode because proceeding without entering into the download mode it’s not recommended to proceed.
- As soon as you enter into the download mode, you will have to connect the phone with the computer while keeping the Odin opened in your computer. As soon as you connect the phone you will then see that the ID : COM section will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers have been successfully installed and you are now ready to proceed with the next step.
- Now, click on the “PDA” option and then select the file of “Semaphore_kernel_JVT_1.8.0” which will be located in the extracted files .Once you select the file you will now need to click on the “Start” tab in the Odin after which the update process may take up to 5 minutes to get finished.
- As soon as the process sis one with you will see that the phone will be restarted. Now, you can see that the phone is now on the latest Semaphore kernel. You will then find that there are host of applications which will be there in the phone right from the Voodoo Control Plus to Over clocking etc.
- Once you are done with this, turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. In recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. This will clear off the cache files if there are any and then you can use your phone by restoring the data if any of them is lost.
