If some device has to compete with Samsung Galaxy S III, they got to have good specifications along side with good promotion of it. Samsung itself is a successful name in the Android line of smart phones. The Samsung Galaxy S III is hard to beat but it doesn’t mean that it can’t be beaten. Giving out competition to S III is Vega S5 from Pantech. The specifications of Pantech Vega S5 is quite better than Galaxy S III but there are certain aspects why Pantech Vega S5 mightn’t be widely accepted device.

Pantech Vega S5 challenges another Korean company as it launched Android LTE smart phone. Vega S5 is with 5 inches of IPS panel touchscreen display and it’s bigger in comparison with S III at 4.8 inches. Vega S5 is with ‘zero bezel’ technology and this device is very much thinner than Samsung’s latest flagship model. Talking about the thickness of S III it measures 8.6 mm which is nowhere in among the top 5 thinnest Android smart phones but Pantech Vega S5 does deserve to be in this list measuring a thickness of 6.89 mm. Going through the camera comparison, Pantech Vega S5 beats Samsung Galaxy S III as it has 13 mega pixel camera alongside with functions like continuous auto focus and zero shutter lag. It also adds 2 mega pixel camera on the front facing side. This is with 2100 mAh battery which provides 11 hours of talk time.
Pantech Vega S5 is powered with Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon MSM8960 dual core processor and it comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the latest version of the Google’s released Android platform launched in December last year available for both tablet and smart phone. It features some of the newly introduced features like Face Unlock, Data Management, intuitive user interface and minimalistic design. This OS version makes multi-tasking easier, rich notifications, resizeable widgets, improved text and spell checker, powerful voice input engine, customized home screen and deep inter activity. It also has mini window feature by which is similar to Pop up Play by Samsung in Galaxy S III. This allows users to watch videos in small window alongside using the other functions on your phone. Pantech also adds Smart Voice a recognition feature of its own.

This smart phone would be sold at a price of $ 800 in South Korea only. This is limited to distribution in Korea via SK Telecom and there doesn’t look like any plans of launching it world wide. Certainly Vega S5 beats Galaxy S III but it’s priced a little higher.
