Pebble E-Paper is a watch which can communicate with your Android phone or the iPhone once connected. Pebble E-Paper connects to your Android smartphone or the iPhone using the Bluetooth and then it alerts you with silent vibration when there is incoming call, email or message is received. You can even ready the email or the message on the device display itself. So whether it’s an incoming call or email or calendar alerts or Facebook message or twitter tweet you get notified on your smart watch and dismiss them with a shake of your wrist. The display of this smart watch is made up off electronic paper display that we spotted earlier in Amazon Kindle reader.
Going through the hardware of this application it comes with 144 x 168 pixel display and it comes with 4 buttons with 3 axis accelerometer and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR. Pebble E-Paper is just launch and the team is back of building some amazing apps such as cyclists can use this as a device to get GPS on your smartphone displaying speed, distance and pace data.
Pebble is a water resistant, scratch resistant and shatter resistant device with anti-glare optical coating. The existing music control application allows you to play, pause or skip a track on your smartphone. If you love gold then Pebble can be used to count the score as well. More applications would be available through the Pebble watchapp store. This also comes with a backlight to view the display at night as well and shows you the watch face all the time.
Pebble E-Paper watch will be made available in three color variants of Arctic White, Jet Black and Cherry Red. This is currently compatible with iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S running iOS 5 or any iPod Touch with iOS 5 and all the Android smartphones having Android 2.3 Gingerbread or more and works with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered phones as well. Sorry to say that it doesn’t work for Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, or Palm phones. It includes a special USB cable and you can charge it using any of the USB cable. At present the Pebble is designed to fit the most 22 mm watch bands. It looks like that Pebble will also be released as the open source SDK so that third party developers working for newer apps developments.
