Pixavi Impact X Rugged Android Smartphone – Toughest Smartphone can Survive Explosions

Rugged smartphones aren’t something new in the market, but the extent of it and the power within the device is a thing to notice. The sporty variants of smartphones usually come with resistance to shock, water and dust but nothing more than that. A Norwegian R&D-focused company named Pixavi has come up with a new smartphone, named Impact X which runs Android OS.

Keeping everything else about the internal hardware and software aside, let us talk about what is making this phone one of the toughest in the world. The Impact X, as claimed by Pixavi, can resist even explosions and can work in hazardous areas, apart from being resistant to the extreme weather conditions, water and dust. The device is built pretty solid, with a single piece aluminum case covering the entire device and the buttons are made of rubber. The touchscreen on the Impact X responds to even glove-worn fingers. The display has got the protection by 2mm Gorilla Glass screen which is very much thicker than standard protections. The phone has got IP68 rating, thus it can survive very well when submerged in water.

Having got the certification acording to IECEx and ATEX Zone 1 requirements, the Pixavi Impact X can easily be called one of the toughest, and the connectivity options such as 3G, Wi-Fi are designed in a way to provide the standard connectivity even in hazardous environments. Apps for remote diagnosis, inspection and maintenance are also pre-installed in the device. Apart from the above mentioned ones, the device has Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

Now, talking about the specs – the Impact X has a 4.3-inch display with 480×800 pixels screen resolution and the phone runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. These two are enough to say the company has concentrated more on the rigidness and solidity of the device, than the internal specs. There are two cameras on the rear side, both 8MP and these can record 1080p videos at 30fps, and the use of two cameras could be for 3D video capturing. An omni-directional microphone is for making calls, while there are stereo microphones are for video recording. The video recording or image capture can be done using the dedicated camera button located below the screen.

There is no mention about the price of Impact X, and Pixavi would want you to contact them for the price quote, indicating that the phone won’t be priced in the normal range.
