For all those users who have purchased the Oneplus two device from China and wanted to replace the Hydrogen OS with the Oxygen OS can do so very easily. So let’s quickly zip through the list of pre requisites which you need to follow before we head on to the detailed guide which will help you update the device. Hydrogen OS is the OnePlus 2’s Chinese ROM which has the English version as menu option, but the sad part is that it doesn’t include the Google Play Services and also it doesn’t have basic apps like file manager and also is bit laggy.

Quick Pre Requisites:

Backup all the data present in your device using below mentioned apps for respective data;

SMS – SMS Backup & Restore,
Call Log – Call Log Backup & Restore,
Photos and others – Manually copy the same in your computer,
Apps – Apps need to be re downloaded again as history of downloaded apps is maintained in Google Play Store

Minimum battery left in your phone should be more than 60%.

Procedure to Replace Hydrogen OS with Oxygen OS in Oneplus 2:

Download Oxygen OS zip package from here to your computer. Make sure that you are not extracting the same in your device.

Connect your OnePlus 2 device to your computer and place the zip file in phone memory and not in any of the internal folders. Once done, disconnect the device from computer.

Press and hold the volume down button and power button together so as to enter your device in the recovery mode. Navigate to the path “Choose Language > Install from sd card> choose Oxygen OS.zip > Installing package (yes) > wait for the firmware to be updated to select Reboot option as yes”.

It will take around 3 – 6 minutes for applying the update and once done device will be rebooted. Now, you need to just follow on screen instructions for setting up the same.
