How to Reset Flash / Binary Counter in Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 Android Phone

Procedure to Reset the Counter in your Galaxy S2 powered by Telus or T Mobile:

  • Assuming that you have downloaded the corresponding package for your device, you can now connect your phone to the computer with the help of USB cable and place the zip file in your phone’s SD Card. Ensure that you are not placing the file deep into the sub folders.
  • Now, disconnect the phone from the computer and turn Off the device so that it can then be entered in the recovery mode. The Galaxy S2 can be entered into recovery mode by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to turn ON your device.

  • Now, once the device is entered in the recovery mode, you now need to select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the Zip Package which you have placed in your phone.
  • It will take around 5 minutes for applying the update and once the update process is completed, the device will again land back to the recovery screen. In the recovery screen, select “++++ Go Back ++++” and then choose the option of “reboot system now” for rebooting the system.

Tip: Due to some reasons if the update process gets failed or interrupted, then you need to apply the update again by following the steps again from the start. Don’t forget to restore the backup which you have taken in the initial steps. You also need to ensure that ensure that all the apn settings too are restored.
