Procedure to Root ACER ICONIA A101:
- First up you need to download A101 Rooting Package from here to your computer. Once it’s done, you need to now install the USB Drivers for Acer Iconia A101 from here to your computer.
- Up next you need to enable the USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging. Ensure that the USB Debugging option is ticked as shown in the below screen capture.
- After this, turn off your tab so that it can then be turned ON in the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be turned ON by Holding the Volume rocker key and then holding the same, you will have to turn ON the device so that the same will be booting in the recovery mode.
- Now, connect the tab to the computer with the help of original USB Cable and then you need to open the command prompt in your computer. In command prompt, you need to enter the below mentioned command.
adb devices
- After entering the above command, you will get the UID in response which you need to jot it down somewhere so that just in case if its needed at a later stage, the same will be useful.

/system/bin/cmdclient ec_micswitch ‘`echo ‘ro.kernel.qemu=1’ > /data/local.prop
- After this, it will give a beep along with the permission denied status message which is quite normal and means that the command has worked successfully.
- Now, type “Exit” at the $ prompt to exit the ADB shell after which the device will be rebooted and then again open the command prompt in your computer to enter the below mentioned commands one by when. Ensure that you give a gap of 5 seconds or till the commands are processed.
adb remount
adb push su /system/xbin/
adb shell “chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su”
- After this, you need to undo the qemu command which you can do by entering the below mentioned command.
adb shell “echo ‘#’ >/data/local.prop”
- Once the above command is processed, you now need to install the super user in your device and after this, run the busy box and go through the installation steps. Please note that in the process, it may prompt the super user permissions, allow the same.
Tip: just in case if the device is not rooted after following the above instructions, you need to follow the procedure again so as to root the same.
