How to Root Asus Transformer Eee Pad transformer TF 101

Pre Rooting Instructions:

  • In the process of rooting, there is a possibility that you may end up losing the data which is stored in the phone, so its utmost important to create a backup of the same so that the same can be restored just in case if the data is deleted or wiped. The data which one has to create a backup includes SMS, Call Logs, Contacts, Songs, Videos, Files, APN Settings and MMS Settings. For your convenience, we have listed below on how you can backup the same.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
ContactsSync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Please note that you should at least have a battery life of more than 50% just to ensure that the Asus Transformer doesn’t get turn Off in the middle of the process of firmware update.
  • Since this rooting process will be involving the computer / laptop, you will have to ensure that you are having a minimum running Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 along with the open USB 2.0 ports with the Admin privileges so the USB read / write access is enabled so that the process is not tampered with.
  • Also, just in case if you are having any PC Suites which are switched ON in your computer, then turn it off completely as these tools try to interrupt the process of firmware update. Please note that as of now this procedure will only work on the Windows based operating systems and will not support Apple / Mac based systems.
