Procedure to Root HTC Desire HD:
- First up you will have to download the Paul’s Visionary Plus tool in your computer and then you need to move this file to your HTC Desire HD which you can do by connecting the device with the help of the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
- After this you need to install the Visionary Plus application in your Desire HD and then you need to run the same. Ensure that you have enabled the option of “Set system r/w” after rooting.
- Click on the “Temp Root Now” and wait till the process is finished. Once this process is done, you will now need to click on the “Permanent Root” option to permanently root the phone.
- After the process gets finished, the device will be rebooted and then after this you will have to download and install the “Terminal Emulator” application from the Android Market Place and need to open to run the same.
- In the terminal emulator, run the command “su” after which you will get to see the sign which is “#” which signifies that the device has been successfully rooted. Just in case if you see “*” then that means that the device is not rooted and you will have to follow the procedure again from the start. Once the process is over, remove the connected USB cable.
Procedure to turn S Off:
- First up you need to download the Engineering Version of HBOOT for your Desire HD phone and then you need to unzip the same in your computer. Just in case if the password is prompted in the process of unzipping then you will have to enter the password as “androidadvices” without the inverted comas.
- Connect the phone with the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase. After this you need to copy the extracted folder as it is in your phone. Please note that you now need to renamed the copied folder to “DHD” without the inverted comas. Once the files are copied, remove the USB cable which is connected to the computer.
- Now, you need to open the “Terminal Emulator” in your phone and then just type the “su”. After this you need to type in the command as “”sh /sdcard/DHD/check”
- So if everything is Ok, you will then need to type in the command as “sh /sdcard/DHD/backup” and then followed by “sh /sdcard/DHD/hboot”. Now, the second command will be installing the HBoot which will turn Off the S completely in your phone.

Procedure to Install Custom Recovery:
- So, once you are done with the above procedure, you now need to proceed to install the custom Recovery image in your HTC Desire HD smartphone. You now need to download and install the latest version of ROM Manager application from an all new Android Market Place on your HTC Desire HD smartphone.
- Once the ROM Manager application is successfully installed, you now need to proceed to open the same and select the option of “Flash Clock Work MOD Recovery” after which you will find a series of devices in the list out of which you need to now select the option of “HTC Desire HD”.
- After this you need to select the option of “Reboot in Recovery” after which you will see that the device will be rebooting into the recovery mode. So, that’s it in this way you have successfully learnt on how you can easily install the Custom Recovery image.
