Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 device can now be rooted and installed with the latest Clock Work Recovery version so that you can then customize your device the way you want to. Full credits to the dimosthenisK developer who has come up with this work around. Please be informed that once you root the device, the warranty will get void. For getting back the lost warranty, you will need to apply the original factory firmware again. To check on whether the device is rooted or not, download the ”Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store and check whether the device is rooted or not.

With the help of below mentioned steps, backup all the data. You can also alternatively make use of KIES tool for creating a backup of all the data so that it can be restored easily.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
Ensure that your computer is installed with the latest version of KIES from Samsung.com/KIES website as it will ensure that all the drivers are installed in the computer.
So assuming that you have created a backup of all the data with the help of above mentioned steps, you can now head over to the next step where we have mentioned a detailed tutorial on how to root the device.
Procedure to Root Galaxy Player 5.0 and Install Clock Work Mod Recovery:
- Download the CWM Package for US Galaxy Player Variant and CWM Package for International Galaxy Player Variant from here to your computer. Once downloaded, unzip the same in your computer to get the tar file. Up next all you need to do is to download the SuperOne Click Zip file in your computer along with the Odin tool
- Open Odin in your computer and turn off your device so that it can be entered in the download mode. Download mode in Galaxy S II GT I9100 can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which a green robot will be shown indicating the Download Mode has been entered.
- Connect your Galaxy S2 with your computer / Laptop and then in Odin you will see that the ID : COM section will turn Yellow indicating that all the drivers are installed successfully.
Note: If ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,
- Install the USB Drivers in your computer &
- Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.
- Once it’s done, click on “PDA” to select tar file and then proceed to clicking on “Start”. It will take around 4 -5 minutes for applying the update and once it’s successfully rooted the device will be shown with the Language selection settings etc.
- Once you see the home screen, disconnect the device to enjoy the firmware. Recovery mode in Samsung Galaxy Player can be entered by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, turn ON your device.
Note: If the device gets into the boot loop sequence or say gets stuck in the welcome screen, just re insert the battery and re follow the above instructions so as to again follow the above mentioned instructions.
