Downgrade or Rebooter Process:
- First up you need to boot your Sony Google TV in the recovery mode. The recovery mode in the Google TV can be entered by pressing the power button and plugging in.
- Now when the Menu is displayed, insert the “USB 1” and press 3 from Sony’s keyboard.
- Now, the device will prompt you and then continue the same and remove the “USB 1” to insert “USB 2”.
- Wait for 20 seconds and then press 1.
- Again wait for 20 seconds to allow the device to display the error message and then you will have to press 0 from the keyboard.
- Device will be back to the recovery mode and then remove the “USB 2” to re insert the USB 1
- Press 3 from the keyboard and device will ask you to continue, remove the “USB 1” to re insert the “USB 3”
- Once again wait for 20 seconds and press 1. Now, it will take more than 30 seconds to a minute to complete the process as shown in the below image.
- Unplug the box and plug it back by holding the power button after which you will get to see the GTV Hacker SONY splash screen which will take you back to the old recovery.
- Insert the “USB 4” and press the “3” button in your keyboard after which it will take around 4 – 5 minutes which will show the screen as shown below.
- Now, once the update is completed, you need to reboot the box and you will see that the modified unsigned kernel is booted successfully.
Tip: Just in case if the device is not rooted successfully or say if the process gets stuck at any point of time then you need to re follow the whole procedure from the start so as boot the unsigned kernel.
